60 years of sharing the blues....

 

Steve E. George brings to the stage a taste  of  old-fashioned showmanship.  His performances reflect his sense of humor and love of  life.  

 

Steve developed a passion for singing as a child, inspired by the choral tradition of the Baptist Church his family attended in Marshalltown, IA.

 

Now a veteran performer, Steve was singing in clubs by the time he was 18, playing popular venues along Des Moines' legendary  Center Street  and beyond. In the 1970s, he became front man for the jazz/funk horn band Antelon. They  enjoyed much recognition in the Midwest and recorded several original tunes. 

 

Chicago blues clubs began inviting Steve to perform, and he has  played many times at such revered venues as House  of  Blues, Buddy Guy's Legends, Kingston Mines,  Blues Etc.,  and Blues On Clark. In addition to playing in other Midwestern cities, Steve has connected with audiences in Hawaii,  Nashville,  Las Vegas,  Memphis,  Atlanta, and Florida.

 

In 2005,  Steve was inducted into  the  Iowa  Blues  Hall of Fame. More than 20 years later, he is still doing his part to keep the blues alive.

 

At age 78,  Steve says his passion to entertain, which he often refers to as  “my golf  game,” continues to thrive. He  considers the many people he has met and friends he has made through his music to be a wonderful blessing.
